PowerMapper is a one-click site mapping tool which creates both visual sitemaps (for humans to use) and XML sitemaps (for search engines).
A sitemap generator automates the process of building sitemaps by scanning a website, capturing thumbnails and meta data for each page, then drawing these on a map.

XML Site Mapping
XML sitemaps (also called search engine sitemaps) tell search engines like Google what pages are on your site, and how often they change. These sitemaps are machine-readable, but are not designed to be read by humans. Here’s an example:
